Players News

Jeff Teague (left ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Wizards due to the same injury that kept him out against the Heat on Wednesday.

Jan 07   6:43 PM

He's missed his last two games and while it sounds like there's a chance he'll go on Friday, he could just as easily miss a third straight game. If he's out, Marcus Smart and suddenly hot Payton Pritchard should make some more noise for the Celtics.

Tristan Thompson (health protocols) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Wizards.

Jan 07   6:43 PM

If he's out it should mean more minutes for Daniel Theis and Robert Williams, although Williams is in the same protocols boat as Thompson.

Damyean Dotson is probable to play on Thursday despite an ankle sprain.

Jan 07   6:43 PM

Dotson suffered the injury on Wednesday, but Cleveland needs him in the rotation now that Darius Garland, Dante Exum and Matthew Dellavedova are all out at the guard spots. Dotson isn't worth rostering now that Isaac Okoro's returned. He played just 16 minutes and scored four points with three assists in his last game.

Nico Melli (personal) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Hornets.

Jan 07   6:24 PM

Melli reportedly wasn't at the last game, either, but it sounds like it's because of personal reasons and nothing COVID related.

Carsen Edwards (health and safety protocols) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Nets.

Jan 07   6:24 PM

He's not alone, as Grant Williams, Robert Williams and Tristan Thompson are all in the same boat. Edwards has seen limited action in four games this season, playing no more than 12 minutes in any of them.

Jarrell Brantley is not with the Jazz and won't play on Friday against the Bucks.

Jan 07   6:07 PM

Brantley has not played this season, so this won't make any impact for fantasy managers.

Juwan Morgan won't play on Friday against the Bucks due to COVID protocols.

Jan 07   6:07 PM

We'll update next when he's available, but assume he isn't for now.

Derrick Favors is probable to play on Friday against the Bucks despite knee soreness.

Jan 07   6:07 PM

Favors has been listed on the injury report all week since sitting out Monday's game, but has played two games since, scoring six points with seven rebounds, one assist and five blocks in 26 minutes. His defensive impact has been welcome, but he might not log enough minutes to be worth picking up in most leagues.

Rodions Kurucs is expected to play on Thursday after missing Tuesday's game with a left ankle sprain.

Jan 07   5:51 PM

With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving both out it's possible that Kurucs could actually crack the rotation and do something tonight, but then again, he's only played a total of 11 minutes this season.

Josh Jackson is listed as probable for Friday's game against the Suns.

Jan 07   5:51 PM

That's an upgrade from the questionable tag he was given earlier in the day and the Pistons and fantasy managers will all be excited to get Jackson back. He was an early-season surprise and is averaging 15.5 points with 1.0 steals, 0.7 blocks and 1.5 3-pointers on the season thus far.

Pat Connaughton has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Jazz.

Jan 07   5:51 PM

He was out on Wednesday with the same injury and groins can be tricky to come back from. His absence should simply mean even more minutes for an already productive Donte DiVincenzo.

Ty Jerome won't play on Friday against the Knicks due to an ankle sprain.

Jan 07   5:51 PM

Jerome is yet to make his season debut with the Thunder, and is unlikely to play a big part of the rotation even when he does return.

Sam Merrill (left ankle) is probable for Friday's game against the Jazz.

Jan 07   5:51 PM

He missed a couple games with the injury but it sounds like he'll be ready to go on Friday night. Even with Pat Connaughton hurting, Merrill's not going to play enough minutes to matter to fantasy owners.

Lance Stephenson has signed a contract to play in the G League.

Jan 07   5:30 PM

He'll be in the G League draft on Monday and could end up on an NBA roster for part of the season if things work out. But you've got to be in an insanely deep league to get excited about this news.

Former NBA player Michael Beasley has signed to play in the G League and will be in the league's draft on Monday night.

Jan 07   5:30 PM

Beasley is a former No. 2 overall pick for the Heat in the 2008 draft but Beasley's career never really came together. Maybe he'll get another shot at the NBA later this season.

Nick Richards is available to play on Friday against the Pelicans after missing time due to health and safety protocols.

Jan 07   5:09 PM

Richards has only played 10 minutes this year despite Cody Zeller's injury. He isn't part of the Hornets rotation, and can be left on the waiver wire.

Frank Ntilikina won't play on Friday against the Thunder because a sprained right knee.

Jan 07   3:54 PM

This will be Ntilikina's fifth missed game in a row, as he hasn't played since December 29. He didn't have a huge role in the Knicks rotation, and his absence doesn't move the needle much for fantasy purposes.

Pistons head coach Dwane Casey said they'll wait and see how Josh Jackson's ankle feels ahead of Friday's game against the Suns.

Jan 07   3:38 PM

Jackson sounds close to returning since tweaking his ankle on Sunday. If he doesn't play, the Pistons could choose to role back their starting lineup from Wednesday, which included Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington, Jerami Grant, Blake Griffin and Mason Plumlee.

Damyean Dotson (ankle sprain) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Grizzlies.

Jan 07   3:21 PM

Dotson played 16 minutes off the bench Wednesday night, as Isaac Okoro was back in the starting lineup. Dotson isn't worth rostering now that the rookie is back, so his status for Thursday will have little impact fantasy-wise.

Hassan Whiteside was a DNP-CD for Wednesday's win over the Bulls.

Jan 07   2:47 PM

This was Whiteside's second DNP-CD within the last week, and at this point it doesn't make too much sense to stash him unless your roster is incredibly deep. Otherwise it's time to cut bait, especially if Marvin Bagley builds on his 21-point, 12-rebound performance.
