Players News

Moe Harkless (left forearm contusion) is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Celtics.

Jan 05   5:52 PM

He hasn't cleared the 10-minute mark over the past five games, so whether he plays or not won't make a bit of difference in fantasy hoops.

Jeff Teague (left ankle) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Miami.

Jan 05   5:02 PM

Even if Teague is cleared for tomorrow night, Payton Pritchard remains the preferable fantasy target of the reserve guards.

Michael Carter-Williams (sore left foot) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Cavs.

Jan 05   5:02 PM

MCW had been starting for Evan Fournier (back), but he hurt his foot in the first half of Monday's game and won't be able to get out there tomorrow night. If Fournier joins him on the sidelines, Terrence Ross might move into the starting lineup and there would be more minutes available for Cole Anthony.

Dennis Smith Jr. (left quad) is being listed as probable for Wednesday's game against the Jazz.

Jan 05   4:30 PM

He hasn't played since Dec. 26, so assuming he's cleared, he'll likely be on a minutes limit. We wouldn't expect much from him.

Omari Spellman (knee) is probable for Wednesday's game vs. the Jazz.

Jan 05   4:30 PM

He's probably out of the rotation, too.

Frank Ntilikina (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Jazz.

Jan 05   4:30 PM

It'll be his fourth straight game on the sidelines, but he didn't have a big role in the rotation, anyway.

Abdel Nader (concussion protocol) is "a full go" ahead of Wednesday's game vs. Toronto.

Jan 05   3:44 PM

This comes from coach Monty Williams, though whether Nader actually earns minutes is another question.

Wizards PG Cassius Winston has fully recovered from a recent hamstring injury, according to coach Scott Brooks.

Jan 05   3:00 PM

Winston isn't anywhere near earning minutes for the Wizards, whose point guard spot is occupied by the veteran trio of Russell Westbrook, Ish Smith and Raul Neto. With the Wizards' G League team, Capital City Go-Go, inactive, the team is "getting creative with drills" to keep Winston engaged and developing his game.

Devonte' Graham said his teammates have urged him to continue shooting despite his early-season slump.

Jan 05   3:00 PM

“When I would come out, guys would say, ‘Why are you not shooting the ball? Why are you passing up shots? We need you to shoot the ball! Nobody cares if you miss!," Graham related. He's shooting 27.1% from the field through seven games this season, and simply hasn't proven capable of creating his own shots inside the arc, but he's still helping fantasy managers with 2.4 triples, 6.1 dimes and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 38.2% last season and should trend toward that (admittedly still sub-par) number in the coming weeks.

Hornets coach James Borrego said he might tweak his rotations vs. the Hawks on Wednesday, but he's unlikely to change his starting five.

Jan 05   3:00 PM

"I'm not going to give up on that [starting] group just yet," Borrego said, "because sometimes you try to plug one hole and open up a floodgate somewhere else." The Hornets have lost three straight games and Borrego is reportedly keen to improve offensively. LaMelo Ball is an obvious candidate to continue getting more minutes, while Malik Monk could also step up after playing 10 minutes in his season debut on Monday.

Onyeka Okongwu (left foot) and Tony Snell (right foot inflammation) practiced 3-on-3 on Tuesday.

Jan 05   3:00 PM

Both the rookie Okongwu and the veteran Snell have their work cut out to find minutes in the Hawks' crowded rotation, though Danilo Gallinari's (ankle) absence for a few weeks does crack the window open.

Ben McLemore and K.J. Martin will stay in Houston to work on conditioning while the team travels to Indiana for a game on Wednesday.

Jan 05   3:00 PM

Neither guy should be on fantasy rosters even when they do regain their conditioning.

Otto Porter will "likely" return to the Bulls' bench once Lauri Markkanen (health and safety protocols) is cleared to return.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

Porter has played well this season and is sitting on mid-round roto value in just 24.9 minutes per game. Despite his recent success in a starting role, Markkanen and rookie Patrick Williams are expected to start at the forward spots. "Our bench is deep, especially when you've got us [veterans] coming off the bench," said Porter. "Our job is to come in and give us a push coming off the bench ... that's what we're trying to do as far as coming off the bench and giving the young guys a spark." As long as he's healthy and earning 24+ minutes, Porter should hover around top-100 value in 8-cat and 9-cat formats.

Danny Green injured his right hand during Monday's game, but resumed playing after X-rays came back negative.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

Green only missed a few minutes of game time and when he returned from the locker room he had his middle and index fingers taped. There's no reason to think this will threaten his status for back-to-back games on Wednesday (vs. Washington) and Thursday (at Brooklyn). We're leaving him off the injury report.

The Warriors intend to continue using Eric Paschall as a backup center this season.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

“He’s really seized that role as backup center,” coach Steve Kerr said. “It’s a really good look. Eric is so good offensively and so good at attacking, and doing so as a five man really suits him well. So, I would say these last few games, the rotation has settled in pretty well." Paschall has taken full advantage with 12.3 points, 4.7 boards and 2.0 assists over the past three games. He's still only getting 18.4 minutes in those games, though, and has limited fantasy upside even with Marquese Chriss (leg surgery) out for the season.

Tyrese Haliburton (left wrist bone bruise) went through shooting drills prior to Monday's game.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

To be clear, he's still sidelined and the Kings are expected to provide an update on his timetable in within the next few days. Head coach Luke Walton said after Monday's blowout loss that players need to step up and create shots, and not wait for Haliburton to return as a playmaker, which highlights just how important he's already become for the Kings.

LeBron James (sprained left ankle) is officially questionable for Tuesday's game vs. Memphis.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

The 'questionable' tag has followed LBJ for nearly every game this season, yet he continues to play without any obvious discomfort. He's likely to get a few maintenance days off throughout the season, but it's unlikely to happen Tuesday. Just keep an eye on him during a back-to-back set this Thursday (vs. San Antonio) and Friday (vs. Chicago).

Derrick Favors (right knee soreness) is probable vs. the Nets on Tuesday.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

Favors sat out Monday's game as a precaution in the first half of a back-to-back set. If you found him useful prior to that DNP, feel free to get him back in your active lineups.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (left ankle) is questionable to play vs. the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

KCP practiced on Monday but his status hasn't been determined yet, and he admitted that his ankle still isn't 100% recovered. Expect him to resume playing 20-25 minutes per game once he's cleared to play, which isn't enough to benefit managers in typical fantasy leagues.

Naz Reid is averaging 6.9 rebounds per 36 minutes this season, which is the third-lowest rate among qualifying centers.

Jan 05   2:15 PM

The only centers below Reid are Ivica Zubac and rebound-allergic Brook Lopez. He came off the bench in Minnesota's game on Sunday, with Ed Davis starting, which may have been due to the rebounding deficit as well as spotty effort defensively. The good news is he's still been efficient scoring the ball and gets enough blocks (and yes, rebounds) to be worth rostering while Karl-Anthony Towns (dislocated wrist) is sidelined.
