Players News

Edmond Sumner (illness) will not play in Sunday's game against the Celtics.

Dec 27   7:20 PM

Sumner's absence will go unnoticed by the majority of Pacers fans, let alone fantasy managers. He's day-to-day.

Lou Williams failed to score in nine minutes of action Sunday vs. the Mavericks, going 0-of-4 from the field while contributing one rebound and one assist.

Dec 27   6:59 PM

With Kawhi Leonard (mouth) sidelined, at first glance this was a game in which Williams stood to have more opportunities to produce. But he and his teammates got off to a historically slow start, and Williams did not play at all during the second half. Consider this effort to be an anomaly for Williams, who remains one of the best bench scorers in the NBA.

Reggie Jackson played 21 minutes in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Mavericks, scoring eight points (3-of-6 FGs) with three rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers.

Dec 27   6:59 PM

Jackson was responsible for half of the Clippers’ production from beyond the arc, as Tyronn Lue’s team shot a putrid 4-of-33 from deep. Kawhi Leonard (mouth) being sidelined moved Luke Kennard into the starting lineup, which in turn opened up a few more minutes for Jackson coming off the bench. He isn’t worth considering in any fantasy format, however.

Terance Mann accounted for four points (2-of-8 FGs), three rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes during Sunday’s loss to the Mavericks.

Dec 27   6:59 PM

With the game essentially being over by halftime, as Dallas took a 50-point lead into the break, players such as Mann were able to receive extended minutes in the second half. The second-year wing isn’t worth rostering in any fantasy format.

Xavier Tillman (left patellar tendinitis) won't play vs. the Nets on Monday.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

We've yet to hear anything about Tillman practicing or ramping up his activity. The Grizzlies are in no rush to bring him back, so we're considering him out indefinitely.

De'Anthony Melton (covid-protocol) is out for Monday's game against the Nets.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Melton will miss his second-straight game due to covid protocol. Tyus Jones will continue to fill the void as the Grizzlies' back up point guard until Melton returns.

Josh Richardson finished Sunday’s win over the Clippers with 21 points (8-of-13 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Richardson has fit in well with the Mavericks, giving the team a tough defender who is also a more than capable contributor offensively. With his 4-of-8 effort from beyond the arc, Richardson is now 8-of-20 (40.0 percent) on those shots through three games. Last season, he made just 34.1% of his attempts with the 76ers. Richardson is a must-have in all league formats, especially with Dallas’ second-best scoring option (Kristaps Porzingis) sidelined until some point in January at the earliest.

Tim Hardaway Jr. played 23 minutes in Sunday’s win over the Clippers, finishing with 18 points (7-of-14 FGs), five rebounds, two assists, two steals and four 3-pointers.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

After struggling with his shot in Dallas' first two games, both losses, Hardaway Jr. got untracked Sunday afternoon. He shot 50% from both the field and from three, while also providing some production in other areas. Hardaway Jr. will be primarily a points and 3-pointers option, but with Kristaps Porzingis (knee) sidelined he will have the opportunity to do a little bit more.

Willie Cauley-Stein accounted for nine points (3-of-5 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot in 18 minutes Sunday vs. the Clippers.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

After playing a total of 20 minutes in Dallas’ first two games, Cauley-Stein was able to get a few more minutes Sunday due to the nature of the game. The Mavericks led by 50 at the intermission, and ultimately won by 51. Cauley-Stein made good use of his time on the court, bu the isn’t a great fantasy option right now regardless of league format.

Jalen Brunson played 13 minutes off the bench in Sunday’s win over the Clippers, finishing with 11 points (4-of-6 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

After scoring 12 points in 18 minutes in Dallas’ regular season opener, Brunson took a step back from a production standpoint Friday against the Lakers. But he managed to bounce back in Sunday’s blowout win, a game that Dallas led by 50 at the half. Brunson doesn’t offer much in the way of fantasy value, as starting point guard Luka Doncic doesn’t take much time off when the games are competitive.

Starting in place of the injured Kawhi Leonard, Luke Kennard played 29 minutes and finished with seven points (3-of-11 FGs), two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Kennard had a tough Sunday afternoon but he wasn’t the only one, as the Clippers were on the receiving end of one of the worst beatings in franchise history. And it hasn’t been the smoothest of starts to the season for Kennard either, as he has scored a total of 19 points in three games (7-of-23 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs). However it’s far too early to give up on him from a fantasy standpoint, especially with it not being known when Leonard will return from his injury.

Kevin Love (calf) will play on Sunday night against the 76ers, according to Kelsey Russo of The Athletic.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Love is still recovering from a calf injury, but he looked good Saturday night in his season debut against the Pistons, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes. Make sure to get him in your lineups.

Dennis Smith Jr. (bruised left quad) will not play vs. the Bucks on Sunday.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

As expected, Austin Rivers (groin) is also out of commission for this game. Alec Burks will have full control of the second unit tonight with DSJ, Rivers and Immanuel Quickley (left hip pointer) all out of commission. We should also see more Frank Ntilikina for the Knicks' banged-up backcourt, though Burks is a far safer fantasy play with a green light offensively.

Austin Rivers (sore right groin) will not play vs. Milwaukee on Sunday.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Rivers has done some work in practices recently, and the good news is that he'll be cleared to take contact as of Monday, according to coach Tom Thibodeau. Even when he's healthy, though, the Knicks have too many guard options to assume Rivers will provide steady contributions.

Victor Oladipo is questionable for Sunday's game vs. Boston.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

It sounds like VO will tell the training staff whether he's up to playing in the second of back-to-back games. We may not learn his status until shortly before tip-off.

Paul George shot 4-of-13 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line in Sunday’s loss to the Mavericks, finishing with 15 points, two rebounds, four assists and four turnovers in 24 minutes.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

With Kawhi Leonard (mouth) ruled out, George moved into the top spot in the pecking order for Sunday’s game. Things did not go well for either PG-13 or his teammates, as he shot 0-of-6 from three and as a team the Clippers made just four of their 33 attempts. "We wasn't ready today,” George, who took the blame for the performance, said. “We wasn't prepared, not from the plan, but from being ready to go.” Chalk this up as a bad night, and hopefully George and his teammates will redeem themselves Tuesday night against the Timberwolves.

T.J. Warren (foot) is questionable to play on Sunday vs Celtics, per Scott Agness.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Nate Bjorkgren said he needs to check in with Warren (foot) to see how he's feeling. The Pacers are simply being cautious, as they already had talks about Warren possibly resting in the second game of back-to-backs this season.

Serge Ibaka played 20 minutes in Sunday’s loss to the Mavericks, finishing with 13 points (6-of-11 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), nine rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot.

Dec 27   6:33 PM

Ibaka was one of the few Clippers to have a decent day at the office, and he continues to play well for his new team. He and Ivica Zubac, who was the starting center last season, have worked well together thus far. Zubac played 16 minutes on Sunday, finishing with 10 points (3-of-4 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) and two rebounds. Ibaka has greater fantasy value, due in large part to his ability to play away from the basket.

Jahlil Okafor hurt his foot and didn't practice on Sunday, per James Edwards III of The Athletic.

Dec 27   5:53 PM

Pistons center Okafor played 18 minutes on Saturday against the Cavs, so the foot injury likely occurred during the game. Though it’s unknown exactly when and how it happened and how serious it is. For now, consider him questionable vs the Hawks on Monday.

Sekou Doumbouya practiced on Sunday despite a minor ankle injury.

Dec 27   5:53 PM

It appears Doumbouya tweaked his ankle while going scoreless in nine minutes vs. the Cavs on Saturday. He only played nine minutes in that double-OT game and nothing about his current role suggests fantasy value. The Pistons will eventually funnel minutes toward their young guys, though, so keep him in mind as the season progresses. For now, we'll list him as questionable vs. the Hawks on Monday.
