Tyus Jones was scoreless in 16 minutes off the bench on Saturday, contributing just three assists, one rebound and a block in a loss to the Hawks.
Jones is locked in as Ja Morant's backup, but as long as Ja is healthy, Jones won't get the minutes he needs to make an impact in fantasy hoops.
Jonas Valanciunas scored 13 points on 2-of-6 shooting (8-of-10 from the line) on Saturday, adding 12 rebounds, one 3-pointer, four assists, one steal, one block and four turnovers across 29 minutes.
JV struggled to get his shot to drop tonight, but he still found a way to be effective by getting easy buckets at the charity stripe. He’s opened the year with back-to-back double-doubles, and he should be a bit more involved in the offense while Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) is watching from the sidelines. Brandon Clarke didn't do much in 20 minutes off the bench, scoring four points on 2-of-8 shooting to go with three rebounds and one assist, and it's disappointing he hasn't taken advantage of JJJ's absence thus far.
Edmond Sumner (illness) won't play for the Pacers on Saturday.
He's not a fantasy option either way and will remain day-to-day.
Bogdan Bogdanovic struggled in his first start with the Hawks on Saturday, going 2-of-10 from the field for seven points, nine rebounds, two assists, one 3-pointer, one steal and one turnover in 32 minutes.
Bogdanovic got off to a horrific start today, bricking his first five shots, and finishing the first half on 1-of-8 shooting (0-of-7 from distance). He got the start today after coming off the bench in the opener, but he came off the bench after halftime, and that might be a better spot for him as it gives him more freedom on offense. It’ll be interesting to see how he begins Monday's game vs. the Pistons.
John Collins was limited by foul trouble on Saturday, but he still finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, two blocks and two turnovers in 27 minutes.
Collins got himself into some early foul trouble in this one, picking up two fouls on moving screens in his first 2.5 minutes of play, so he only saw nine minutes through the first half of action. However, he only picked up one more foul after halftime, and he did a good job of making things difficult for Jonas Valanciunas, holding him to 2-of-6 shooting. We haven’t seen an explosion from Collins just yet, but it should be coming soon, particularly with Clint Capela (Achilles) still out of the picture.
James Borrego would not commit to deploying Vernon Carey Jr. or Nick Richards while Cody Zeller (hand) is out.
Bismack Biyombo will start at center for the Hornets tonight, and PJ Washington will get most of the backup five-man minutes, so Carey Jr. and Richards may remain outside of the rotation despite Zeller going down for 4-6 weeks. This quote makes these rookies a lot less appealing in DFS today.
Jabari Parker (stiff back) is listed as probable on Saturday night.
He played well in the preseason and impressed the Kings staff in camp but missed the opener due to the sore back. It sounds like he'll be on the court tonight, but we'd like to see him play in a real game before thinking about using him in any form of fantasy. We should get that chance tonight.
DaQuan Jeffries is listed as doubtful for Saturday due to a sore back.
He had been upgraded to questionable as of Friday but it now sounds like he won't give it a go tonight, not that it has any fantasy impacts.
Immanuel Quickley (hip) won't play on Saturday night against the Sixers.
He was doubtful coming in so this just confirms that we won't see him tonight. He's worth keeping an eye on once he's ready to go as the Knicks backup point guards are a collective mess. But there are enough of them (Quickley, Dennis Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina) to limit all of their potential fantasy value.
Jae'Sean Tate is not being listed on the injury report for Saturday's game in Portland.
He'll be one of nine available players for Houston today, so he might be worth a DFS punt play, given that he's nearly guaranteed to get minutes tonight. He's not worth your attention in standard leagues, though.
Trevor Ariza (personal) is not traveling with the Thunder as he's yet to report to Oklahoma City.
It appears Ariza has absolutely no interest in what they're doing in Oklahoma, and this might be a similar situation to what we saw with Andre Iguodala in Memphis last season. We have no idea when or if Ariza will play for the Thunder, so it's safe to leave him on the waiver wire in vast majority of leagues.
Theo Maledon is available to play against the Hornets on Saturday.
Maledon missed the team's season-opener on Wednesday. He's unlikely to be a fantasy threat so early in his rookie season.
Robert Williams (illness) is not on the injury report for Sunday's game, meaning he should play.
He missed Friday's game due to a sickness but it doesn't appear to be COVID related. Williams will be part of the rotation and while he's currently someone you want to be rostering in fantasy, he could make an impact when teammates are injured and could emerge later in the season as a fantasy possibility.
Tacko Fall won't play against the Pacers on Sunday due to eye irritation.
Fall missed the Celtics' first two games for the same reason. He's still considered day-to-day.
Marcus Morris is still day-to-day with a right knee injury.
Morris missed all of preseason and the first two games of the Clippers season with the injury, which we still don't know the severity of. Head coach Tyronn Lue said on Friday that he's "doing his own rehab with the sports science team, and he's been progressing," according to Andrew Greif of the L.A. Times. It's unclear when Morris will return, but Nicolas Batum has been stellar in his absence, averaging 8 points on 50% shooting, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the team's first two games.
Brandon Goodwin (elbow) will be a game-time call for Saturday's matchup with Memphis.
Goodwin was being listed as probable on the injury report, so we suspect he'll be available, although he could be headed for a DNP-CD regardless with Rajon Rondo active.
Brandon Goodwin is available for the Hawks' game against the Grizzlies on Saturday.
Goodwin scored 3 points with 4 assists in 13 minutes in the Hawks' opener, but with Rajon Rondo available to make his debut, he might not see much time on the floor.
Nicolas Claxton won't play in the Nets' game against the Hornets on Sunday due to knee tendinopathy.
Claxton hasn't played at all in the 2020-21 season, and even when he returns, he'll have a tough time carving out minutes behind Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan.
Jordan McLaughlin (covid protocol) is available to play Saturday night for the Timberwolves.
McLaughlin was sidelined in the T’Wolves opener due to covid protocols but there’s no indication he’ll be in the rotation right away, especially playing behind D’Angelo Russell and Ricky Rubio. In 30 games last season as a rookie, McLaughlin averaged 7.6 points and 4.2 assists in 20 minutes a game.
Edmond Sumner (illness) is questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Bulls.
There's no indication that the illness is COVID-19 related, he's simply feeling a bit under the weather. That said, whether he's activated or not won't make a bit of difference in fantasy hoops.
