Trae Young hit just 7-of-22 shots, three 3-pointers and 11-of-12 free throws for 28 points, three rebounds, 14 assists and a block in 44 minutes of Wednesday's overtime loss to the Nets.
The 14 dimes tied his season high and the Hawks might have won the game had Trae made a few more shots, but it's nice to see the Hawks playing together as a team and for everyone to be supporting each other again. They had won four of their previous five games and don't have anything to be ashamed of losing to the Bucks and Nets in their last two losses. They should be able to right the ship against the Wizards on Friday and watching Trae and Bradley Beal in a shootout could be a lot of fun.
Avery Bradley (COVID-19) saw 18 minutes off the bench in his return to action on Wednesday, finishing with eight points, two triples, one rebound, two assists and four turnovers in a blowout loss to the Nuggets.
The reason why Bradley is rostered in just 2% of Yahoo! Leagues is because of stat lines like these. Leave him on the wire.
Duncan Robinson's shooting funk continued on Wednesday, as he went just 3-of-11 from the field for eight points, two triples, five rebounds, three assists and three turnovers in 36 minutes.
Robinson was coming off a 1-of-10 shooting performance and he was only marginally better in this one. He's getting a lot more attention with Miami's main scorers on the inactive list, but Goran Dragic (groin), Jimmy Butler (COVID-protocol) and Tyler Herro (neck) should be back soon, and once that happens we'd expect Robinson to return to his efficient 3-point scoring ways.
Lonzo Ball (sprained right ankle) went to the locker room in the second quarter of Wednesday's game against the Wizards.
We'll let you know if he plays in the second half. Given that he's been the subject of trade rumors lately the Pelicans may hold him out, even if the injury's not serious.
Doug McDermott came through with 28 points (12-of-22 FG, 3-of-3 FT), five rebounds, one 3-pointer and one turnover in 28 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
McDermott was held to just two points over 17 minutes as a starter his last time out, but he moved to the second unit today with Jeremy Lamb replacing him, and that allowed him to be much more aggressive in seeking out his own shot. He's inconsistent and won't do much for you outside of points and triples, but he's doing enough to warrant a look in deep leagues.
LaMelo Ball went 2-of-4 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the line for eight points, four rebounds, five assists and one turnover in 22 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
Ball has been slumping a bit lately, scoring in single-digits in three of his past four games with minutes in the lower-20s, and this was his second straight game without a triple. Some inconsistency is to be expected with rookies, but we're still anticipating a strong second-half from the No. 3 overall pick of the 2020 draft, so now might be a good time to reach out to Ball's fantasy manager to see if they're losing patience.
Devonte' Graham scored 16 points on 4-of-11 shooting (4-of-4 FT) Wednesday, to go with four triples, three boards, five dimes, one steal and three turnovers in 35 minutes.
Graham’s had more than a few rough shooting performances this season, but he’s been in a nice groove over the past eight games, connecting on 41.0% of his shot attempts (which is good for him) to go with 17.8 points, 5.6 assists, 3.5 triples, 1.3 steals and just 1.5 turnovers per game in 36.4 minutes a night. He’s been flirting with top-75 value in 9-cat leagues over that eight-game span, so fantasy managers may want to test his market value while his shot is falling and he’s still starting.
Kyle Lowry finished Wednesday's 115-108 loss to the Bucks with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting (6-of-8 from deep), six rebounds, three assists and four turnovers in 37 minutes.
In the process, Lowry scored his 10,000th point in a Raptors jersey. He's the third player in franchise history to reach the mark, joining Chris Bosh (10,275) and Lowry's close friend DeMar DeRozan (13,296). Raptors coach Nick Nurse said after Monday's game that Lowry was "probably not 100 percent" due to a recent toe infection, but he's playing through discomfort until it's fully healed. He came in shooting 17.4% in his previous two games, so tonight's efficiency and high minutes suggest he's already feeling better.
Pascal Siakam (left knee swelling) returned to action on Wednesday with 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals, making 5-of-12 shots with zero steals or blocks in 35 minutes.
The Raptors kicked off a three-game homestand with a loss vs. the Bucks, moving their record to 5-4 in Tampa's Amalie Arena. Siakam missed the past two games due to his knee ailment, and he's also been dealing with a nagging groin injury, but neither visibly slowed him down in a tough matchup vs. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks tonight. Siakam didn't get to the free throw line, for only the second time this season, so we'll be looking for more aggressive play vs. Sacramento on Friday.
Isaac Okoro contributed 10 points (3-of-5 FG, 3-of-3 FT), two rebounds, six assists, one 3-pointer, two steals and one turnover across 37 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Pistons.
Okoro has been fairly consistent with the steals this season, averaging 1.4 a night, but he’s not doing much outside that, connecting on just 40.6% of his FGA and 67.7% of his freebies to go with 8.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 turnovers per contest. The dimes tonight accounted for a season-high and he snapped a four-game single-digit scoring skid, but he's been too inconsistent this season to trust in standard leagues.
Aaron Gordon hit just 1-of-9 shots (a 3-pointer) for a season-low three points, five rebounds and five assists in 26 minutes of Wednesday's ugly 121-107 loss to the Kings.
Ouch. Gordon was also in some foul trouble and not only had one of his worst games of the season, but his entire career. He flirted with a triple-double on Monday, but has been in a shooting funk for a big chunk of January and hasn't hit the 20-point plateau in any of his last seven games. Hopefully he gets back on track on Friday against the Raptors.
Jarrett Allen saw 20 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's win over the Pistons, finishing with 10 points (5-of-7 FG), one rebound, one steal, two blocks and one turnover.
Allen was a part of the closing group in three of his first four games in Cleveland, and he also closed the last game alongside Andre Drummond, but that was not the case today as he hit the bench with 7:30 left in the fourth quarter and he did not return. He still got his blocks, but the rest of his stat line was fairly disappointing. He’s going to be a bit more inconsistent with the reserve role in Cleveland, but he’s still worth hanging onto in most formats.
Jeremy Lamb was held to just three points (a 3-pointer) on 1-of-6 shooting in Wednesday's win over the Hornets, adding four rebounds, four assists and nothing else through 21 minutes as a starter.
Lamb got his first start of the season today, but unfortunately, that correlated with his worst performance since coming back from the knee injury. He had been thriving while operating in a Sixth Man role with the Pacers, as he had a lot more freedom on offense while running with the reserves, but he struggled to assert himself in the first unit today. It may take a few games for him to adjust to the new role, but starting is rarely a bad thing for a guy as talented as Lamb.
Evan Fournier hit 7-of-15 shots and three 3-pointers for 25 points, three rebounds, four assists and three blocks in Wednesday's 121-107 loss to the Kings.
Fournier was one of just a few bright spots for the Magic and he's been great since returning from his back problems, averaging 23 points, 5.4 assists and 3.4 3-pointers while shooting the ball well in his last five games.
Justin Holiday scored 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting Wednesday, to go with five triples, six rebounds, two assists and one block over 38 turnover-less minutes.
Holiday was coming off a five-point, 2-of-6 shooting performance, but he got things back on track today and even added a block after going swat-less in his previous two outings. He’s been a steady top-100 option since T.J. Warren (foot) went down, posting averages of 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 triples, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steal and just 0.8 turnovers per contest on 49.1% shooting, so he should be rostered in far more than just 34% of Yahoo! Leagues.
Derrick Rose (knee) returned from a two-game absence on Wednesday and scored 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 from the stripe.
Rose added two 3-pointers, three assists and two turnovers in his 19 minutes of floor time, and with him logging under 20 minutes, it's possible he'll be cleared for the second leg of this back-to-back against the Lakers on Thursday. Jerami Grant had another solid outing, scoring 26 points on 7-of-13 shooting (10-of-10 FT) to go with three rebounds, two assists, two triples, one steal and three turnovers in 33 minutes, but unfortunately, the Pistons weren't able to get the win and they've now lost five of their past six games.
Mason Plumlee double-doubled in Wednesday's loss to the Cavs with 15 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, one block and an unfortunate eight turnovers across 28 minutes.
Plumlee has been okay as Detroit’s starting center this season with averages of 8.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.5 blocks and 2.1 turnovers per contest on 53.8% shooting from the field and 68.2% from the stripe, which has him hovering around late-round value on the season. He’s not a league-winning kind of player, but he’s doing enough to warrant a roster spot at the end of your bench.
Saddiq Bey didn't do much in a spot-start sans Blake Griffin (rest) on Wednesday, finishing with just seven points, two rebounds, two assists, one 3-pointer and two turnovers in 20 minutes.
Bey was scoreless his last time out with just two shot attempts, and while he was marginally better today, going 2-of-4 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the stripe — it still was quite the disappointing stat line. Isaiah Stewart also failed to take advantage of the increased opportunity sans Griffin, missing all six of his shots on his way to six rebounds, one assist and one steal in 15 scoreless minutes off the bench.
Marvin Bagley hit 7-of-14 shots, a 3-pointer and 1-of-5 free throws for 16 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and a steal on 7-of-14 shooting in just 22 minutes on Wednesday.
Don't look now but Bagley has double-doubled in three of his last four games. Of course, some of the good vibes were ruined by the terrible free throw shooting, but he's at least putting up some solid numbers right now and his sore left wrist doesn't appear to be bothering him anymore. As for the free throw shooting, the career 68 percent shooter has now hit just 2-of-9 of them in his last three games. And the 22 minutes were oddly low, as he wasn't in foul trouble. Hopefully they go back toward 30 in his next one.
Richaun Holmes hit 8-of-11 shots and 4-of-6 free throws on his way to 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes of Wednesday's 121-107 win over the Magic.
This was a very efficient line for Holmes who has really rounded back into form this season. As long as he keeps playing like this, Hassan Whiteside is going to have trouble finding more than 15 minutes a night, as has been the case thus far. Whiteside played 16 minutes for nine points and six rebounds, but he's been a really tough player to stash in fantasy with so few opportunities this season.
