Players News

Josh Okogie (hamstring) is in the starting lineup on Friday vs the Hawks.

Jan 22   8:31 PM

Okogie will suit up tonight as expected. He played 25 minutes on Wednesday, recording 11 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block. We'll need to see more out of him before running to the waivers where he's available in nearly all leagues.

Josh Richardson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell all remain out due to health and safety protocols.

Jan 22   8:31 PM

"Some [players] are closer than others," coach Rick Carlisle said. "Next week we could see one or two guys trickle back into the mix, but it's very fluid, very uncertain." Presumably all four of these guys tested positive for COVID-19, necessitating a longer and more intensive absence followed by numerous hurdles to clear prior to on-court play. In the meantime, players including Jalen Brunson, Trey Burke, Josh Green and James Johnson will pick up the slack.

Ricky Rubio (health and safety protocols) will play tonight vs the Hawks.

Jan 22   8:31 PM

Rubio will come off the bench on Friday vs the Hawks after missing the last two games and there's no indication of a minutes restriction for the veteran.

Cody Zeller (fractured left hand) is active and will come off the bench on Friday vs. the Bulls.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

The Hornets center fractured his hand in the season opener and after having surgery he was sidelined for about a month. Zeller won't have any official minutes restriction, with coach James Borrego saying, "I'm not going to run him into the ground, but he'll get a run out there." His return will mainly impact Bismack Biyombo, as it's clear that P.J. Washington is the team's best center. For now, though, Biyombo will start while Zeller regains his conditioning.

Malcolm Brogdon, Justin Holiday, Doug McDermott, Domantis Sabonis and Myles Turner will start for the Pacers on Friday vs the Magic.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

Sumner will go back to the bench with Myles Turner active and in the lineup for the Pacers. He can be dropped in all formats.

De'Andre Hunter (sore right knee) will play on Friday vs the Timberwolves.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

Hunter is back tonight after missing just one game with a sore right knee and does not have a minutes restriction. Danillo Gallinari (ankle) and Cam Reddish (knee) are also active but will be playing limited time. Kevin Huerter, who's been balling the last two games, might play less minutes tonight as well. Hunter is coming off a season-high 25 points with four rebounds, two assists and three steals in his last game.

Cam Reddish (right knee) will play vs. the Wolves on Friday.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

Reddish will have a 25-minute limit in place, which slightly dents his appeal as a DFS option, but at least he's healthy enough to play after three games on the shelf.

LeBron James (left ankle) is questionable Saturday vs the Bulls.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

James remains on the injury report but continues to play every single game. He's also coming off a season-high 34 points vs the Bucks so he's presumably just fine.

Anthony Davis (right ankle) is listed as 'probable' for Saturday's game vs. the Bulls.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

Nothing to see here, as AD and LeBron James (left ankle; questionable) are constants on the L.A. injury report, yet the keep playing.

The Nets will start Kyrie Irving, Bruce Brown, Joe Harris, James Harden and DeAndre Jordan on Friday.

Jan 22   7:31 PM

Jeff Green goes to the bench and Kevin Durant is simply getting some rest in this game, which is the first half of a back-to-back set. Harris and Brown are both worthy DFS options, though anyone not named Irving or Harden will be fighting uphill for offensive looks tonight.

Austin Rivers (right Achilles soreness) has been ruled out for Friday's game vs the Kings.

Jan 22   6:22 PM

Rivers will miss his second straight game due to soreness in his right Achilles. But Alec Burks now back, he's the better fantasy option and a solid DFS play, too.

Billy Donovan said he'd be 'surprised' if Wendell Carter Jr. plays on Saturday vs the Lakers.

Jan 22   6:22 PM

WCJ has already been ruled out for tonight's game against the Hornets and now it appears that he's in jeopardy of missing Saturday's game, too. Lauri Markkanen should play more minutes as should veteran Thaddeus Young who's played pretty well lately.

Michael Carter-Williams (left foot) will not play vs. Indiana on Friday.

Jan 22   6:22 PM

As much as the struggling Magic can use MCW as a backup ball-handler, they won't deploy him at the risk of a long-term setback. He was questionable for this one and could return as soon as Sunday vs. the Hornets.

Norman Powell is starting Friday's game vs. Miami in place of Kyle Lowry (foot/toe).

Jan 22   6:22 PM

Powell is averaging 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 triples and 1.7 steals in three starts this season. Lowry's absence opens the door for him to approach those numbers again, and he benefits from Miami missing both Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro. Stream freely.

Ricky Rubio (health and safety protocols) will be a game-time decision on Friday vs the Hawks.

Jan 22   6:22 PM

Ryan Saunders said that he's unsure if Rubio will play tonight because the veteran point guard is still going through the league's health and safety protocols. He's a game-time decision so we'd hold off on starting him for now.

Daniel Gafford will start Friday's game alongside Coby White, Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams and Lauri Markkanen.

Jan 22   6:22 PM

Cody Zeller (fractured left hand) is active on Friday vs the Bulls.

Jan 22   5:25 PM

The Hornets center fractured his hand in the season opener and after having surgery he was sidelined for about a month. Zeller might be on a minutes restriction and his return will mainly impact Bismack Biyombo, as it's clear that P.J. Washington is the team's best center.

The Nets are planning to sign free agent center Norvel Pelle.

Jan 22   3:39 PM

The Nets could use some front court depth behind DeAndre Jordan until Nic Claxton (knee) is cleared in February. Pelle is an excellent shot blocker but is unlikely to see many minutes, especially with Jeff Green playing some small-ball center.

Myles Turner (right hand) could return as soon as Friday's game vs. the Magic.

Jan 22   11:25 AM

As we suspected, the issue right now is all about pain tolerance.  “There’s really not much you can do for it to heal,” Turner said on Thursday. “No surgery. No time off. It’s just one of those things you’ve got to get used to.” Turner added that he knows his team needs him to return as soon as possible, so if he doesn't play Friday we would expect him to return shortly after.

J.J. Redick came off the bench for 11 points (3-of-6 FG, 3-of-3 FT), two 3-pointers, three assists, one steal and two turnovers across 19 minutes in Thursday's loss to Utah.

Jan 22   3:02 AM

This was a nice bounce-back performance from J.J. after he was held to just six points in Tuesday's blowout loss, and if you ignore that one bad game, he's been decent over the past six with multiple triples and double-digit scoring. His upside is fairly low because he rarely brings anything to the box score outside of points and triples, but if you're in a deep league and have a need in those categories, Redick could be someone to consider grabbing.
