Players News

Brodric Thomas (right ankle sprain) won't play vs. the Spurs on Saturday.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Active or not, Thomas isn't a fantasy asset.

Hassan Whiteside (left hip soreness) is questionable vs. the Clippers on Friday.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Richaun Holmes is thriving this season and the Kings are giving Marvin Bagley minutes at center, which has decimated Whiteside's role even at full health. He played 10 minutes in each of the past two games, so even if he suits up on Friday it's wise to leave him on your fantasy benches.

Alex Len will miss his second straight game due to personal reasons when the Raptors play the Hornets on Saturday.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Aron Baynes got the start for Len on Thursday but didn't do much, scoring two points in eight minutes. Chris Boucher is the guy you want from Toronto's center rotation and he's still available in 21% of Yahoo leagues.

Mike Scott (right knee swelling) won't travel with Philly for their two-game road trip this weekend.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Scott will miss consecutive games on Saturday and Sunday, before potentially returning to action vs. Boston on Wednesday. He's not a fantasy factor but could emerge as a streaming/DFS option if Joel Embiid's own knee injury costs him games beyond the current road trip. For now, just continue to ignore Scott in the vast majority of leagues.

Evan Fournier will miss Friday's game against the Celtics with back spasms that have now held him out of seven straight contests.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Fournier remains sidelined due to lower back spasms that him kept him off the court since Dec. 31, 2020. But the Magic are surprisingly 4-0 since then. Dwayne Bacon, James Ennis and Terrence Ross will continue to play big minutes in the mean time.

Ja Morant (left ankle sprain) won't play on Friday because the game vs. Minnesota has been postponed.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Morant was listed as questionable but the Grizzlies don't need to make a tough decision with their rising star, since nobody will be suiting up for Memphis or Minnesota tonight. The Grizzlies are scheduled to play at home vs. the Sixers on Saturday, but it's unclear whether that game will be played.

Jrue Holiday (ankle) will play on Friday vs the Mavericks after previously being listed as probable.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

The Bucks face the Mavs on Friday in what should be an entertaining game. Holiday is coming off a stat-sheet stuffing 21/6/5/3/1/3 performance against the Pistons on Wednesday and will look to keep that going against Dallas so get him in your lineup.

Tyler Herro (neck) is questionable for Saturday's game vs. Detroit.

Jan 15   6:21 PM

Herro is one of eight players with the 'questionable' tag for Miami, in addition to three more players already ruled out -- Jimmy Butler, Avery Bradley and Meyers Leonard. Chaos reins when it comes to Miami's roster right now, and fantasy managers will need to check the injury report a few times prior to Saturday's tip-off.

Daniel Theis is available to play on Friday vs the Magic after clearing the NBA's safety protocols.

Jan 15   5:12 PM

Theis is back for Boson but we will be splitting minutes with Tristan Thompson and Grant Williams who have also been cleared to play again. He's worth a pick up in deep leagues if your team is dealing with injuries or other quarantining players.

Semi Ojeyele is among a few Celtics players who are listed as active for Friday's game vs the Magic.

Jan 15   5:12 PM

Ojeyele could play a decent amount on Friday and maybe even start as Jayson Tatum (COVID) remains sidelined. He's averaged 23 minutes over the last four games and scored in double-figures in two of them. Consider him a low-end streamer in deep leagues if you're feeling lucky.

DeMarcus Cousins (right ankle soreness) is doubtful for Saturday's contest against the Spurs.

Jan 15   4:47 PM

Cousins could miss Saturday's game against the Spurs as he's dealing with a sore right ankle. Fantasy managers won't be missing much from Boogie, however, as he only had nine points and four rebounds vs the Spurs on Thursday. All eight of his field goal attempts in that game from beyond the arc, too. Christian Wood and P.J. Tucker should play a bit more if Cousins sits.

Eric Gordon (left leg tightness) is questionable vs the Spurs on Saturday.

Jan 15   4:47 PM

Gordon was upgraded to questionable after missing Thursday's game, and the shorthanded Rockets could surely use his offense with John Wall (knee) already ruled out. If Gordon suits up, he should play a big roll against the Spurs on Saturday as will Sterling Brown who's coming off a big game on Thursday.

Reggie Bullock (right hip soreness) is probable for Friday vs. the Cavaliers.

Jan 15   1:53 PM

He was previously listed as questionable and should be good to go barring a setback in warmups. He'll have a decent role until Alec Burks (ankle) comes back but doesn't offer enough upside in fantasy leagues. Austin Rivers is the player to stream in that backcourt.

Torrey Craig (nasal fracture) said he's ready to play on Friday vs. Dallas.

Jan 15   1:53 PM

This doesn't mean he'll actually see the floor as Craig is just emergency depth and a defensive specialist for the Bucks.

James Harden passed his physical with the Nets on Friday but wasn't allowed to practice yet.

Jan 15   12:41 PM

Every player involved in the 4-team trade must complete their physical before Harden can participate in any on-court team activity, Malika Andrews of ESPN reports. We expect that to happen by the end of the day, potentially setting up Harden to make his debut on Saturday vs. Orlando.

The Washington Wizards now have five players who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Jan 15   10:21 AM

We don't know which players tested positive, but Rui Hachimura and Moritz Wagner were recently sidelined due to health and safety protocols. Washington's game vs. the Pistons on Friday was already postponed and it's possible that Sunday's game vs. the Cavaliers could be delayed as well.

Harry Giles saw 11 minutes off the bench on Thursday and finished with two points, five rebounds and two steals in a blowout loss to the Pacers.

Jan 15   2:31 AM

It's not an impressive stat line, but Giles could see some increased opportunity while Jusuf Nurkic rehabs from the fractured wrist, so he's worth monitoring in deep leagues. Carmelo Anthony hit 4-of-11 shots for 10 points, two triples, two rebounds, one assist, two steals and two turnovers in 22 minutes, and he's another guy who could get a bit of a boost sans Nurkic.

Draymond Green scored just one point in Thursday's loss to the Nuggets, adding four rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 25 minutes.

Jan 15   2:31 AM

Simply put, Draymond was awful in this one, going 0-of-2 from the field and 1-of-4 from the line while committing five (mostly careless) turnovers. “I think Draymond will take this one personally because he prides himself on being our anchor on defense," said Steve Kerr after the game. "I imagine he’ll bounce back strongly in LA on Monday night.” He's gotten off to a horrible start this season, connecting on just 28.1% of his shot attempts with 4.0 FGAs per game for 4.0 points a night, and he’s also only averaging 0.3 blocks per contest. We were expecting a slow start after he missed all of training camp and the preseason, but we didn't think it would be this bad. Hopefully, Kerr is right.

Eric Paschall went 2-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from the stripe on his way to eight points, five rebounds and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes off the bench on Thursday.

Jan 15   2:31 AM

Paschall missed the previous game due to the health and safety protocols, but he was back in action tonight and provided a stat line you’d expect. He rarely brings anything to the box score outside of points, which is why he ranks well outside the top-150. Leave him on the waiver wire.

Damion Lee was held to two points on 1-of-3 shooting Thursday, to go with two rebounds, five assists, two steals and one turnover in 19 minutes off the bench.

Jan 15   2:31 AM

Lee emerged as a late-round producer last season while averaging 29 minutes per game on a Warriors team that was actively tanking, but he’s been relegated to a bench role with minutes in the teens this year, which isn’t enough floor time for him to consistently produce. As long as Stephen Curry, Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins are healthy, Lee won’t be worth rostering in the vast majority of leagues.
