Darius Garland (sprained right shoulder) will not play vs. the Jazz on Tuesday.
We've yet to hear about Garland ramping up his activity, but the Cavs haven't ruled him out long-term so perhaps we'll see him back on Friday vs. the Knicks. He's missed six straight games and counting, though, so it could take him a bit before he's averaging 35.8 minutes again.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (left ankle) is probable vs. the Rockets on Tuesday.
The Lakers have played it loose with their injury report all season, and presumably KCP is fine to play his usual role after scoring seven points in 22 minutes on Sunday. We should have plenty of advance notice if he's downgraded from his current 'probable' designation.
Derrick Rose (left knee soreness) participated in parts of Tuesday's practice.
Despite his activity at practice, Rose remains questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Bucks. If he can't suit up, the Pistons will once again lean on Delon Wright for point-guard minutes, with Frank Jackson and Saben Lee fighting for the backup-PG spot.
Pistons coach Dwane Casey didn't rule out the possibility that he'll change his starting lineup vs. the Bucks on Wednesday.
Lineup changes are "something [Casey] is keeping an eye on," according to beat writer James Edwards III. It remains to be seen which players might be impacted if Casey does alter his rotations, but Josh Jackson's minutes have plummeted recently, even as Saddiq Bey has played more minutes off the bench. With Detroit off to a 2-8 start this season, we'd assume everything is on the table.
Markieff Morris has been fined $35,000 and DeMarcus Cousins has been fined $10,000 for their on-court scuffle during Sunday's game.
Morris was ejected from the game after three minutes of action, but he and Cousins will both avoid suspensions. Cousins already has multiple ejections this season, but Rockets coach Stephen Silas said he was "proud of [Cousins] for sticking up for his teammate."
Bogdan Bogdanovic (right knee avulsion fracture, bone bruise). will be out "several weeks," according to Hawks GM Travis Schlenk.
This isn't an official injury update and 'several weeks' shouldn't be interpreted as an actual timetable for Bogdanovic's return. Both the avulsion fracture and bone bruise require extended rest, and Atlanta isn't going to rush him back before the knee is 100% structurally sound, so we're leaving him 'Out indefinitely' on our injury report. Schlenk's comment is still encouraging for fantasy GMs forced to stash Bogdanovic in an IR spot, and he's worth keeping there until the Hawks provide a target date. His absence means more minutes for Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish, primarily.
Buddy Hield said he has "no excuse" for shooting 36.2% to begin the season, adding that teams have been crowding him defensively.
Hield scored 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting (all 3-pointers) in a win vs. Indiana on Monday, including a critical hit late in the fourth quarter. That was the first time all season that he's shot above 46.7% from the field. "My percentage doesn't look good as of now, but it's a long season," Hield said. "It's going to come." He's shooting 35.8% from deep compared to his 40.8% career average, and he's healthy, so an upward correction seems inevitable. If Monday's game is any indication, the window to acquire him at a discount is already closing.
Rajon Rondo (left knee soreness) is "on track to play later this week," Hawks GM Travis Schlenk told 92.9 The Game on Tuesday.
The Hawks play Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week. Those are all road games and it sounds like Rondo and rookie Onyeka Okongwu (left foot) are both traveling with Atlanta and could play before their trip concludes.
Danilo Gallinari (right ankle sprain) isn't traveling with the Hawks but he's "getting closer to returning," according to Hawks GM Travis Schlenk.
Any player rehabbing an injury is technically "getting closer" every day, so we'll focus on the fact that he didn't even travel with Atlanta for their game in Phoenix on Wednesday. We should see Gallinari in practice before he's cleared to play, too, and he's due to be re-evaluated on or around Jan. 16.
Talen Horton-Tucker is expected to draw interest from "multiple teams" as a free agent next offseason.
Horton-Tucker had an exceptional preseason and recently turned in a career-best effort with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting, five boards, three assists and four steals. League sources tell Sean Deveney of Heavy.com that the Knicks, Cavs and Mavs have "potential interest" in THT. That doesn't mean much, months from free agency, but it's a sign that teams aren't sleeping on his potential. Fantasy managers shouldn't be, either, as he's hovering around top-150 value in a mere 16.9 minutes per game this season.
Bogdan Bogdanovic (right knee fracture, bone bruise). will be out "several weeks," according to Hawks GM Travis Schlenk.
This isn't an officially injury update and 'several weeks' shouldn't be interpreted as an actual timetable for Bogdanovic's return.
Harrison Barnes hit 10-of-14 shots, two 3-pointers and 8-of-8 free throws on his way to a season-high 30 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in 38 minutes of Monday's 127-122 win over the Pacers.
Barnes was feeling it and the Pacers' defense was a bit suspect tonight. Barnes has quietly (and barely) scored in double digits in every game this season and is doing a nice job of rebounding, assisting, stealing the ball and hitting 3-pointers while shooting it very well from the floor. His free throw percentage has been shaky, but hitting 8-of-8 of them tonight helped. Barnes is returning sixth-round fantasy value this season and appears to be a safe starting option going forward.
De'Aaron Fox racked up 21 points, five rebounds, nine assists, a steal, a block and two 3-pointers in 38 minutes of Monday's 127-122 win over the Pacers.
He had the dunk of the night with a throw down in the face of Malcolm Brogdon, which you can see in the link below. From has had a couple shaky games this season and his shooting is still a concern, but he's also scored at least 20 points in seven of his 11 games this season.
Buddy Hield started after being a game-time decision with an ankle injury and hit 6-of-11 shots (all 3-pointers) for 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal and two turnovers in 31 minutes of a win over the Pacers.
The Pacers didn't exactly play stellar defense tonight and video of Hield warming up and not missing a shot translated to the game, as he was feeling it. Hield hit just 3-of-10 shots for a season-low eight points on Saturday, but looked healthy tonight and should be good to go against the Blazers on Wednesday.
Carmelo Anthony scored a season-high 20 points vs the Raptors on Monday, making four threes and tacking on five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.
Melo was clutch down the stretch for the Blazers, scoring 13 of his 20 points in the final frame to help Portland overcome a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit. The 35 minutes were also a season high and the four made 3-pointer tied a season high. Basically Melo had his best game of the season and reminded everyone that he's still a bucket and worth a roster spot in standard and deep leagues.
Tyrese Haliburton played 29 minutes and hit 4-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers for 12 points, three rebounds, four assists, a steal and one turnover in Monday's win over the Pacers.
Haliburton didn't break the bank tonight but the minutes were there, the 3-pointers were fun and the steal was nice. The future is way too bright for Haliburton for owners to consider dropping him. If you do it, you won't get him back and he's scored in double figures in seven straight games and in eight of nine games this season. And he's only going to get better.
Jusuf Nurkic (quad contusion) played just nine minutes on Monday before leaving the game and never returned.
Nurkic went to the locker room in the first half and never returned to the game, finishing with just two points and two rebounds in nine minutes. There's no indication just yet on the severity of his injury, but if he misses time, Enes Kanter becomes a must-add for a Blazers team that's already without Zach Collins.
Justin Holiday replaced his brother, Aaron Holiday, in the starting lineup on Monday night and had eight points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 3-of-8 shooting in 34 minutes.
The fact the Pacers lost to the Kings may not bode well for Holiday's starting chances going forward, but it doesn't mean he won't keep starting, either. And with Victor Oladipo iffy on Tuesday in the second game of a back-to-back, Holiday still has an excellent chance to bounce back tomorrow. Holiday was a popular add this week with a juicy five-game schedule and the good news is that he still has four more tries to right the ship.
Enes Kanter started the second half for Jusuf Nurkic (quad contusion) and finished the game with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting and six rebounds.
Nurkic exited the game in the first half and never returned. We're not sure how bad his injury is just yet, but if he's set to miss time, Kanter should be picked up in all leagues as the Blazers are already running short on bigs. He's a good source for points and rebounds on high field-goal percentage and is almost averaging a double-double off the bench this season.
Doug McDermott hit 8-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 21 points, four rebounds, one assist and a rare steal in Monday's 127-122 loss to the Kings.
McDermott was scooped up in some standard leagues with five games this week and he got things off to a pretty terrific start. Victor Oladipo is very iffy for Tuesday on the second night of a back-to-back (we're guessing he won't play) and McDermott has another chance for a big night against the Warriors on Tuesday. He still has four games left on the schedule this week and the Pacers have avoided the COVID issues facing many teams, meaning he might be worth a look if you're in need of games played.
