Players News

Enes Kanter came off the bench for 25 minutes on Wednesday and had 10 points, and 10 rebounds in a blowout loss to the Clippers.

Dec 31   12:59 AM

Kanter is stuck behind Jusuf Nurkic but has been quietly playing well, double-doubling in two straight games and averaging 11.5 points and 10.3 rebounds through four games. He's only got one block and one steal on the season, but if you're in need of a center, he's worth a look, averaging a double-double.

Nicolas Batum started again on Wednesday and had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 4-of-6 shooting in 26 minuets of a blowout win over the Blazers.

Dec 31   12:59 AM

Batum is quietly averaging 7.6 points, which isn't great, along with 6.4 rebounds, 3,4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.2 3-pointers in 27 minutes per game. He's not going to be a great scorer and isn't a must-have player, but he's worth a look in deeper leagues and is a cheap DFS option if you can catch him on the right night.

Taurean Prince didn't miss in Wednesday's win over the Hawks, going 5-of-5 from the field for 12 points, two triples, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes off the bench.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

The 12 points accounted for a season-high, but the lack of shot attempts tells you pretty much all you need to know about where Prince stands in the pecking order on this team. Landry Shamet was also perfect in the win, going 5-of-5 from the floor and 2-of-2 at the line for 14 points, two 3-pointers, one rebound and one steal in 18 minutes off the bench, but neither of these guys are worth your attention in the vast majority of leagues.

Terry Rozier hit 8-of-17 shots and two 3-pointers for 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and a bloc in 30 minutes of Wednesday's blowout win over the Mavs.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

Rozier hasn't scored 20 points since blowing up for a career-high 42 in the opener, but he's been consistent, scoring either 18 or 19 points in each of his last three games. He's shooting it better than advertised this season, hitting 40-of-69 shots (58 percent) so this could be a nice time to think about selling high on the volatile guard. However, he could be primed to do this all season, so managers shouldn't feel like they have to move him.

Jarrett Allen notched his first double-double of the season on Wednesday with 15 points, 13 rebounds, one assist and two turnovers in 25 minutes off the bench.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

Allen has now recorded double-digit boards in four out of the five past games for Brooklyn, and he was the closer for tonight's game, with DeAndre Jordan seeing just 15 minutes of floor time. DJ finished with five points, one rebound, one steal, one block and a plus/minus rating of minus-8, while JA's plus/minus tonight was plus-8. As long as JA is regularly logging minutes in the mid-20s, he'll be worth rostering in most leagues.

Devonte' Graham hit 3-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for nine points, zero rebounds, five assists and two steals in Wednesday's easy win over the Mavericks.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

Graham is trending down, scoring 10, 14, 13 and nine points in each of his four games this season and has a total of eight assists over his last two games after notching 10 of them in each of his first two games. The arrival of LaMelo Ball, who went off tonight, isn't helping Graham and it's probably only a matter of time before Melo ends up in the starting lineup. Whether he'd replace Graham or Terry Rozier in the starting unit remains to be seen, but our guess is Graham might be the guy heading to the second unit if LaMelo does get the call.

Miles Bridges came off the bench and hit 6-of-9 shots, four 3-pointers and 4-of-4 free throws for a season-high 20 points, a career-high 16 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 30 minutes on Wednesday.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

Bridges easily had his best game of the season and is averaging 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, blocks and 2.5 3-pointers and the Hornets are now on a two-game winning streak.

LeBron James (ankle) scored 26 points on 11-of-23 shooting (3-of-5 from the line) on Wednesday, adding one 3-pointer, five rebounds, eight assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers across 35 minutes.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

LBJ recorded his 1000th straight double-digit scoring game in this one, which is the first time in NBA history that a player has reached that mark, and he's well ahead of Michael Jordan's second-place record of 866 straight. Gregg Popovich spoke about King James' greatness prior to the game, saying, "His mental state along with his physical state really makes him very special, probably more than anybody who has ever played the game.” He shouldn't still be this good this late in his career, but the 36-year-old James doesn't seem to eager to have a meeting with Father Time. Oh, and his ankle looked fine.

Cody Martin had four points and a steal in eight minutes before being ejected late on Wednesday after getting into a shoving match with James Johnson.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

His brother Caleb Martin was given a technical for coming to his aid and we'll have to see if any suspensions are coming. But neither of the Martin twins are really relevant in fantasyland.

Josh Richardson played through his calf injury on Wednesday but hit just 1-of-10 shots for four points, two rebounds, two assists and a block in 27 minutes of a blowout loss to the Hornets.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

The good news is the injury didn't appear to slow him down and he played. But the Mavericks let the Hornets go on a 16-0 run to start the second half and no one on Dallas, including Luka Doncic, could get anything going. Richardson should be good to go in his next one as the Mavericks will try to right the ship on New Years Day against the Heat.

James Johnson played 19 minutes and hit 3-of-8 shots for seven points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block before getting ejected late on Wednesday.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

He got into it with Cody Martin and then Caleb Martin and appeared to headbutt Cody when the whole thing started, meaning he could be facing a suspension. Johnson has the potential for 3-pointers, steals and blocks and might be worth a look in deeper leagues. And we wouldn't want to get into a fight with him, as he's a second-degree black belt in karate.

Maxi Kleber hit 4-of-5 shots (all 3-pointers) for a season-high 12 points, six rebounds, an assist and two blocks in Wednesday's loss to the Hornets.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

The rebounds and blocks were also season highs and he's been playing a solid role for the Mavericks thus far. However, Kristaps Porzingis (knee surgery) is nearing a return and will hurt Kleber once he's back. Kleber still belongs on the waiver wire in your fantasy league.

Markieff Morris didn't do much in 19 minutes off the bench on Wednesday with just two points, six rebounds, one assist and one turnover in a win over the Spurs.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

Morris is averaging just 15.1 minutes off the bench this season to go with 4.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 trey per contest, so he can safely remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.

Wesley Matthews went 6-of-6 from distance on Wednesday for 18 points and two rebounds in a win over the Spurs.

Dec 31   12:03 AM

In Matthews' previous four games he scored four, two, four and zero points, respectively, so we wouldn't rush to the waiver wire to grab him after one hot game. It's not like he's going to hit 100% of his shots again this season. While Matthews couldn't miss, Kyle Kuzma had a tough time getting his shot to drop, going 2-of-7 from the field and 1-of-2 from the stripe for six points, one 3-pointer, six rebounds, four assists, one steal and two turnovers in 24 minutes with the second unit.

Cam Reddish went 5-of-11 from the field and 8-of-10 from the line on his way to a season-high 20 points in Wednesday's loss to the Nets.

Dec 30   11:11 PM

Reddish added two triples, three rebounds, one assist, one block and one turnover in his 32 minutes of floor time, and he did a nice job of making things difficult for Kevin Durant. Bogdan Bogdanovic saw 29 minutes off the bench and finished with 22 points (7-of-14 FG, 2-of-2 FT), six treys, four boards, one assist, one steal and zero turnovers in the narrow loss. Both these guys should be able to finish as mid-round producers this season.

De'Andre Hunter fouled out of Wednesday's game after 33 minutes, finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds, three treys, three assists and one steal in a tough loss to the Nets.

Dec 30   11:11 PM

Hunter's defense against Kyrie Irving was superb in this one, and as an added bonus for those in 9-cat leagues, he finished the game without a single turnover. He's flirting with top-100 value this season behind averages of 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 treys, 2.5 dimes, 0.5 swats and 1.3 turnovers per game on 43.9% shooting, so he should be rostered in a lot more than just 40% of Yahoo! Leagues.

Kyrie Irving got off to a slow start on Wednesday, but he went nuclear during the fourth quarter and finished with 25 points, six assists, three triples, two rebounds, two steals and just one turnover in a 145-141 win over the Hawks.

Dec 30   11:11 PM

Irving struggled mightily through the first three-quarters of this one, going 3-of-16 from the field and 0-of-7 from distance, but he went 7-of-11 through the final frame of action and helped propel Brooklyn to the win. Joe Harris was solid from start to finish with 23 points (8-of-11 FG, 1-of-2 FT), six triples, two rebounds, two assists, one block and zero turnovers in 31 minutes.

P.J. Washington played through a sprained ankle on Wednesday and hit 4-of-6 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, two rebounds, three assists and five fouls in 18 minutes of a blowout win over Dallas.

Dec 30   11:11 PM

He would have played more but the foul trouble ended his night early and the lopsided score didn't  help his cause, either. He's now scored in double figures in three straight games and has also been logging some steals, blocks and 3-pointers, even though he didn't have a steal or block tonight. He should be rostered everywhere.

Gordon Hayward hit just 4-of-16 shots and 1-of-6 3-pointers for 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in Wednesday's 118-99 win over the Mavs.

Dec 30   11:11 PM

He's played really well in two games and has struggled with his shot in the other two, but has managed to score in double-digits in all four of them. He's also been pretty consistent outside of scoring, averaging 19.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 3-pointers. He doesn't have a blocked shot yet but that's not why you drafted him. It's hard to believe he's in his 11th season already and if his good-bad-good-bad shooting trend continues, he could be due for a big game against the Grizzlies on New Years Day.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot didn't do much through 26 minutes as a starter on Wednesday, scoring three points on 1-of-5 shooting to go with one 3-pointer, one rebound and three assists.

Dec 30   11:11 PM

TLC might be starting the rest of the way with Spencer Dinwiddie (knee) done for the year, but just like Dinwiddie, it's unlikely he'll have much value at all while he watches Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving control the offense. He belongs on the waiver wire in most formats.
