Marcus Morris (right knee) returned to practice on Monday, but he remains questionable for Tuesday's game vs. the Timberwolves.

Dec 28   4:44 PM

Morris has yet to make his 2020-21 regular-season debut, and he may have lost his spot in the starting unit to Nicolas Batum. We'll have a better idea on his status following tomorrow's shootaround, but even if he's cleared, he's not a guy we'd expect much from in fantasy hoops this season.

Tacko Fall (eye) will remain on the sidelines for Tuesday's game in Indiana.

Dec 28   4:44 PM

It's unclear how much longer this eye issue will keep Fall on the sidelines, but it's not like he'd be in the rotation if he were available. We're going to switch him to "out indefinitely," and we will not provide another status update until he makes meaningful progress with his irritated eye.

Thaddeus Young (leg infection) is probable for Tuesday vs. the Wizards.

Dec 28   1:34 PM

He's on track to make his season debut after his training camp was interrupted with a staph infection in his leg. Young will come off the bench and may have restrictions but is worth monitoring in deeper leagues for his excellent steal rate.

The 76ers have picked up Matisse Thybulle's third-year option.

Dec 28   11:53 AM

This was just a formality for a player with All-NBA upside on the defensive end. Thybulle has only played a total of 15 minutes so far this season but coach Doc Rivers said he expects that to go up in the near future.

Nick Young is signing a contract in the Chinese Basketball Association with the Zhejiang Lions, Shams Charania reports.

Dec 28   10:17 AM

The veteran SG has played for six different NBA teams but it looks like his time in the league has come to an end. His most recent stint was with the Nuggets where he averaged just 9.3 minutes per game.

Cameron Johnson scored 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 from range) in a win over the Kings on Sunday.

Dec 28   1:27 AM

Johnson can shoot, and for some fantasy managers, that's enough reason to play him. He had a dud 3-of-10 shooting game on Saturday, but in his other two games, he scored 36 points on 12-of-18 shooting, including four made threes. He isn't a play-maker or consistent rebounder, but Johnson can get hot quick, and when he does, Chris Paul will find him.

Marc Gasol dominated the Wolves in 21 minutes of action on Sunday, scoring 12 points with eight assists, seven rebounds and four blocks.

Dec 28   12:33 AM

Gasol shot 4-of-4 from the field, 3-of-3 from deep and 1-of-1 from the line, and the only blip in his performance was three turnovers. Anthony Davis' absence with a bruised calf gave Gasol more touches offensively, after he took one shot in the first two games combined, but the biggest help was playing a Wolves team minus Karl-Anthony Towns (wrist). It was inevitable that Gasol would warm up, but his low-minute, low-usage role doesn't leave much room for upside.

LeBron James (left ankle soreness) made light work of Minnesota on Sunday, posting 18 points, nine boards and five assists in 26 minutes.

Dec 28   12:33 AM

The Lakers turn around to play the Blazers on Monday, so it remains to be seen if LeBron is cleared for both sides of this back-to-back. It helps that he was able to sit out down the stretch of a laugher, with his team cruising to a 127-91 win, so perhaps that's enough for him to suit up. If the King sits out, Talen Horton-Tucker should emerge as a popular DFS punt play on Monday.

Kyle Kuzma made a fill-in start on Sunday, finishing a lopsided win vs. the Wolves with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, four 3-pointers, three blocks, three rebounds and three assists.

Dec 28   12:33 AM

Anthony Davis (right calf contusion) was out tonight and it's unclear if he'll play vs. Portland on Monday, so Kuzma may have another start coming his way. After an up-and-down preseason, Kuzma appears locked in with averages of 16.0 points on 55.9% shooting through three games. His supporting stats are typically lacking, which makes tonight's defensive contributions even sweeter. Soak up Kuzma's elevated production as long as you can while AD is out.

Josh Okogie didn't return to Sunday's game after leaving early due to cramping.

Dec 28   12:33 AM

Okogie finished with just four points and one assist in 11 minutes of action. Nothing suggests this will be a lasting concern, but we'll add him to the injury report ahead of Tuesday's game vs. the Clippers. Even in a starting role for Minnesota, Okogie just isn't getting enough usage (13.2%) to be more than a fringe asset in 12-team leagues.

D'Angelo Russell finished Sunday's ugly road loss to the Lakers with as many turnovers (seven) as combined points (four) and assists (three).

Dec 28   12:33 AM

The Wolves lost Karl-Anthony Towns to a dislocated wrist on Saturday, leaving Russell with the unenviable task of leading his short-handed crew against the reigning champs. It didn't go well. Without KAT, opposing defenses will assuredly swarm Russell whenever he touches the ball, so there may be some choppy waters ahead in the FG% department. Tonight's game is likely to prove an aberration in terms of usage and overall stats, though, so give him a look in DFS leagues if his salary stays low enough.

Anthony Edwards cooled off on Sunday, shooting 6-of-21 from the field to finish a blowout loss in L.A. with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes.

Dec 28   12:33 AM

The Wolves' prized rookie has scored double-digit points in all three games this season, and he came in shooting 54.2% from the field in his previous two games. He can be forgiven the off shooting night, and fantasy managers should have anticipated a hit in the FG% department anyway, since it's the main reason he fell so far in drafts (130.6 ADP in Yahoo). He'll be better in points leagues but should have enough all-around potential to earn his keep in any format.

Cameron Johnson scored 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 from range) in a win over the Kings.

Dec 28   12:00 AM

Johnson can shoot, and for some fantasy managers, that's enough reason to play him. He had a dud 3-of-10 shooting game on Saturday, but in his other two games, he scored 36 points on 12-of-18 shooting, including four made threes. He isn't a play-maker or consistent rebounder, but Johnson can get hot quick, and when he does, Chris Paul will find him.

Eric Paschall finished Sunday's last-second victory in Chicago with 15 points (4-of-8 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), two boards, two assists and two steals in just 19 minutes.

Dec 28   12:00 AM

The PF job has been wide open due to Draymond Green's absence, but Paschall had failed to deliver and he was benched tonight in favor of Juan Toscano-Anderson. That apparently lit his fire and there is another glimmer of hope for Paschall's fantasy value -- coach Steve Kerr said Paschall might play some center now that Marquese Chriss is done for the season with a broken leg. For now, just monitor Paschall's role in 12-team leagues.

James Wiseman was quiet in 23 foul-plagued minutes vs. the Bulls on Sunday, shooting 3-of-8 from the field for seven points, three rebounds, one steal and one block.

Dec 28   12:00 AM

The Warriors' center played only three games for the Memphis Tigers, escalating concerns that he'd be brought along very slowly with Golden State. That hasn't been the case, and his workload is liable to ramp up in a hurry with Marquese Chriss (leg) done for the season. Steve Kerr said prior to this game that Wiseman "will be ready to play big minutes soon," which are the sweetest words his fantasy GMs could hope to hear. The No. 2 pick hasn't missed a beat since playing vs. NBA competition, his perimeter shooting has been a revelation (1-of-1 on Sunday), and he should cruise past his Average Draft Position of 98.0 in Yahoo leagues.

Coby White had 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four 3-pointers in a tough 129-128 loss to the Warriors on Sunday.

Dec 27   11:42 PM

The Bulls lost at home on a buzzer-beater with 2.3 seconds remaining, spoiling the good vibes of Chicago's otherwise momentum-building performance. White himself was in need of a big game, having averaged 10.5 points on combined 6-of-21 shooting in Chicago's first two games. He didn't have any steals and is settling for contested jumpers too often, which is partly why he's attempted zero free throws in the past two games. Of course, fantasy GMs won't nitpick after this 20/7/5 line.

Denzel Valentine was a healthy DNP-CD on Sunday.

Dec 27   11:42 PM

Valentine made his season debut on Saturday after getting a DNP-CD in the Bulls' opener. Coach Billy Donovan admitted he's still figuring out his rotations, but Valentine clearly has an uphill battle to earn minutes, let alone provide fantasy value. Donovan criticized Valentine's defense after Saturday's game, and there's no reason to think he'll surge into fantasy relevance.

Stephen Curry carried the Warriors with 36 points on Sunday, making 11-of-25 FGs and 9-of-9 FTs with six assists, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Dec 27   11:42 PM

His efforts helped keep the Warriors in this game until Damion Lee put them up for good with a late 3-pointer, giving Golden State their first win of the season. Draymond Green can't get back soon enough to give Curry some veteran support, especially since Andrew Wiggins (32.7% FGs) and Kelly Oubre (17.5%) are acting like brick-layers for a stadium that's already been built. Win or lose, Steph is a fantasy goldmine.

Kelly Oubre's shooting woes continued on Sunday with eight points on 3-of-16 shooting, including an 0-of-6 mark from deep.

Dec 27   11:42 PM

That drops Oubre to 5.7 points on 17.5% shooting through the Warriors' first three games. He simply can't get any worse and this slump is unprecedented in his NBA career, so now is the time to float trade offers to his nervous fantasy managers. His minutes and offensive touches are a given, after all, and maybe the return of point-forward Draymond Green will help unlock his scoring.

Damion Lee sank a game-winning 3-pointer to beat the Bulls on Sunday, finishing 4-of-7 from the field with four triples, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Dec 27   11:42 PM

Kevon Looney assisted Lee on the final shot, a play drawn up with 5.0 seconds left that allowed Lee to play the hero role in Golden State's first win of the season. Lee only played 21 minutes but that could increase after this performance, especially since coach Steve Kerr wants more 3-point shooting on the court -- Lee was 4-of-5 from deep. He can put up fantasy-relevant threes and steals when given sufficient minutes, so keep him in mind as a potential pickup.
