Kevin Huerter hit 8-of-15 shots and four 3-pointers to tie his season high with 21 points and added five rebounds, a season-high 10 assists and two steals in Wednesday's 122-116 loss to the Mavericks.
Huerter was a popular recommended play in the Rotoworld DFS Optimizer tonight and he came through with his best game of the season. He hadn't scored more than 13 points in his previous six games so it was nice to see him get back on track on Wednesday. He'll try to keep it going on Thursday against the Jazz.
Cam Reddish hit 1-of-8 shots for two points, three rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Mavericks.
Reddish has disappeared for Atlanta, scoring seven or fewer points in four of his last five games as Danilo Gallinari is coming on off the bench. Reddish has talent and could turn it around at any time, but it might be time to hit the waiver wire if you're still hanging onto him.
Danilo Gallinari hit 4-of-11 shots, two 3-pointers and 9-of-9 free throws for a season-high 19 points, two rebounds, two assists and a block in 21 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Mavericks.
This was Gallo's best game since returning from injury on Jan. 22, although he's scored in double figures in five of his last seven games. He's getting comfortable again and Cam Reddish appears to be fading. While we don't expect to see Gallo in the starting lineup anytime soon, it's time to give him a look if you need a big man who can shoot 3-pointers, although he's still not a must-have player at this point.
Serge Ibaka recorded 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, two 3-pointers, two blocks and zero turnovers across 20 minutes in Wednesday's win over Cleveland.
Ibaka was held to just nine points on 3-of-11 shooting his last time out, but he got things back on track tonight, only missing once through the first half of action and finishing 6-of-8 from the floor. He’s not the most exciting guy to roster, but he is providing top-100 value on the year behind averages of 12.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 triples, 1.2 swats and 1.3 turnovers per game on 51.3% shooting from the field and 83.3% from the line.
Ivica Zubac had a 10-point, 16-rebound double-double in Wednesday's win over the Cavs.
Zubac finished 3-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from the stripe, and he added one assist, two steals, three blocks and one turnover in his 28 minutes off the bench. He had failed to record any defensive statistics in his previous three games, but he got some added run in tonight's blowout game going up against Cleveland's big frontcourt. He's too inconsistent to trust in standard settings.
Ish Smith started for Russell Westbrook (rest) on Wednesday and missed all eight of his shots to finish with zero points, five rebounds, six assists and a steal in a win over the Heat.
Smith was a popular streaming play tonight as the only healthy point guard for Washington but he buried managers who rolled the dice on him. Westbrook should be back for the next one, meaning you can probably send Smith back from whence he came.
Reggie Jackson was scoreless through 23 minutes as a starter on Wednesday, finishing with just five rebounds and three assists in a blowout win over the Cavs.
Jackson was coming off a nine-point, 3-of-9 shooting performance, and he was even worse tonight, bricking all three of his shot attempts. He had some nice games while Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were in quarantine, but with those guys back, he's not receiving enough usage to make an impact in fantasy hoops. Even with Patrick Beverley (knee) out, Jackson isn't worth rostering in most leagues.
Lou Williams snapped his single-digit scoring streak on Wednesday with 15 points, two triples, three rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and four turnovers in 23 minutes.
Williams had been held to single digits in the scoring department over the past three games, connecting on just 33.3% of his shot attempts, but he was much better tonight — finishing 5-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the line. That said, he’s been woefully inconsistent this season, so we’d like to see him do this again before recommending him as an add in most formats.
Donte DiVincenzo snapped out of his shooting funk during Wednesday's win over the Pacers, tallying 16 points, four 3-pointers, four rebounds, three assists and one block across 22 turnover-less minutes.
DiVincenzo came into this one connecting on just 12.5% of his shot attempts over his past two games, which included a 27-minute, scoreless performance, but he got things back on track today finishing 6-of-11 from the field. He’s averaging just 9.3 points per game, but his value has been kept afloat with the triples (1.8) and steals (1.3).
Kristaps Porzingis hit 10-of-20 shots and a 3-pointer for 24 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal in Wednesday's 122-116 win over the Hawks.
The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Mavericks and their defense looked better tonight. This makes back-to-back double-doubles for KP for the first time this season and his first 20-point game over his last five outings. KP wants to play in back-to-backs this season and the Mavericks play again on Thursday against the Warriors. He played 34 minutes tonight so fantasy managers will want to make sure he's a go for Thursday before locking him into lineups.
Clint Capela had 10 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks in 30 minutes of Wednesday's 122-116 loss to the Mavericks.
This was his third straight double-double and he's had one in all but five games this season. He's had at least 10 rebounds and two blocks in nine straight games, tying him with Dikembe Mutombo for the team record, and he's had 10 or more rebounds in 17 straight games, leaving him two games behind Dwight Howard, who holds the Hawks record with 19 straight 10-rebound games. The 17 straight games of 10-plus rebounds is also the longest streak in the NBA this season. Capela has been one of the best sleeper picks in fantasy this year.
Avery Bradley (right calf strain) will not return to Wednesday's game vs. the Wizards.
Bradley will end his evening with seven points, two rebounds, one 3-pointer, two rebounds and one steal in 13 minutes off the bench. It's possible that the calf injury will cost him multiple games, and if he does need to miss time, his minutes will be divvied up between Andre Iguodala, Max Strus and Goran Dragic.
Trae Young hit 8-of-18 shots and three 3-pointers for 21 points, four rebounds, nine assists, a steal and four turnovers in Wednesday's 122-116 loss to the Mavericks.
He had a tough time dealing with constant double-teaming in the first half but got loose late to make some big plays for the Hawks. The Mavericks were in control of this one throughout but Trae's late 3-pointer did cut the lead to three points. The Hawks weren't able to get any closer and will face the defensive-minded Jazz on Thursday night.
Malik Monk shot 4-of-10 from the field for 13 points off the bench on Wednesday, going 3-of-7 from deep with two rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes.
Monk was fresh off a career performance with 36 points and nine 3-pointers, but he cooled off in a hurry and burned plenty of DFS managers in the process. His fantasy upside is severely curtailed by a lack of supporting stats, with career per-36-minute averages of 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.5 blocks and 2.3 turnovers. He'll re-surface on plenty of waiver wires once Terry Rozier (right ankle) gets back on the court.
Miles Bridges shot 7-of-11 to score 16 points on Wednesday, hitting two 3-pointers with eight rebounds, three assists and one block in 32 minutes as a fill-in starter.
Hornets writer Sam Perley writes that Bridges has looked better creating shots "off the dribble, particularly from 3-point range." That's worth watching as Bridges attempts to grow his offensive repertoire, but he came into this game with only nine unassisted buckets on the season. He's a combined 6-of-25 from the field (24%) after taking more than one dribble, too, so there's a ton of room for improvement. Still, he has a fantasy-friendly game and looks like a must-play while P.J. Washington recovers from a sprained right foot.
Danny Green hit 6-of-9 shots and four 3-pointers en route to 16 points on Wednesday, adding one rebound, one assist, two steals and two blocks in 31 minutes.
This marks Green's second-highest scoring game of the season, and as usual it came mostly from deep -- 75.3% of his shot attempts have come behind the arc. Doc Rivers was recently named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for December/January, and he's putting Green in his sweet-spot as a 3-and-D wing who isn't asked to play much beyond 30 minutes most nights. That modest playing time (27.9 minutes per game) has been enough for him to hover around top-200 value this season, which isn't cutting it in most leagues.
Furkan Korkmaz was quiet on Wednesday with four points, one rebound and one steal in 16 minutes off the bench.
During a comeback win vs. Indy on Sunday, Korkmaz had a rare spotlight moment with a season-high 17 points including 11 in the fourth quarter. He's a consistent source of 3-pointers at 1.7 per game, but that's not as impressive a number as it once was. Leave him on the wire while Philly is at (or near) full strength.
Dwight Howard grabbed 10 rebounds off Philly's bench on Wednesday, adding five points (1-of-2 FGs, 3-of-6 FTs) with two steals and one assist.
The boards and steals are nice but Howard won't often help fantasy managers when playing 12-18 minutes off the bench (14 minutes tonight). He's still worth deploying whenever Joel Embiid is sidelined, though, as witnessed by Sunday's line of 11 points, 15 boards and two blocks in 25 minutes. The Sixers play the second of back-to-back games on Thursday, so give Dwight a look if Philly opts to rest their All-Star center.
Shake Milton tweaked his right knee vs. Charlotte on Wednesday, but he returned to finish with 13 points on 4-of-12 shooting, two assists and one rebound in 19 minutes.
“Shake actually came to me to tell me he was ready [to go back in]," said coach Doc Rivers. "I got a kick out of that." Milton definitely looked fired up after coming back from the locker room. He blocked Bismack Biyombo after checking back into the fourth quarter, then converted a 3-point play and handed out an assist before checking out for the final seven minutes. It looks like he avoided any serious injury, so we'll leave him off the injury report ahead of Thursday's game vs. Portland.
Myles Turner (shoulder) hit just 1-of-3 shots in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Bucks, recording one 3-pointer, two rebounds, one assist, two steals, one block and one turnover in 23 minutes.
Turner played through a sore right shoulder, which is his shooting arm, and it did seem to affect him as he went his first eight minutes without recording a single statistic and he didn’t attempt his first shot until the second quarter. He was passive offensively tonight and had a tough time with Giannis Antetokounmpo, but we’d anticipate a more productive outing on Friday with a much more favorable matchup vs. the Pelicans.
