Players News

Alec Burks (left ankle) is not expected to play on Monday vs. Orlando.

Jan 18   10:43 AM

He's listed as doubtful but Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has not ruled out a possible appearance. Burks was playing really well before his ankle injury so make sure he's not available on your wire as he should be back any day now.

Patrick Beverley (personal) scored 11 points on 3-of-7 shooting (3-of-4 FT) Sunday, to go with two 3-pointers, five rebounds six assists and a block over 26 minutes.

Jan 18   1:07 AM

Beverley returned from a one-game personal absence, which sent Reggie Jackson back to the second unit. Jackson finished with just six points, three rebounds, three assists and three turnovers, but neither of these guys deserves your attention in standard 12-team leagues.

Marcus Morris scored a season-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting in Sunday's easy win over the Pacers, adding four triples, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one turnover in 27 minutes off the bench.

Jan 18   1:07 AM

The Clippers trailed the Pacers by 23-19 midway through the first quarter, but they ended it on a 17-3 run — led by a flurry of Mook buckets — to regain the lead for good. When asked about his uber-efficient shooting after the game, Morris responded, "I was wide open. If I can't make those I'm in the wrong place." He's starting to heat up with back-to-back double-digit scoring performances, so he's on the radar in deep leagues.

Luke Kennard dropped in 20 points in 21 minutes off the bench on Sunday, adding five triples, four rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in an easy win over Indiana.

Jan 18   1:07 AM

Kennard has been inconsistent this season, but he's seen some increased opportunity while Lou Williams (hip) has been out. If he can do this again on Wednesday vs. the Kings, then he'll have our attention as a potential standard league guy, but for now, he's not much more than a speculative grab in deep leagues.

Malcolm Brogdon went 7-of-21 from the field for 16 points in Sunday's blowout loss to the Clippers.

Jan 18   12:46 AM

Brogdon added two triples, two rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two turnovers in his 34 minutes of floor time, so it wasn’t a total wash. He had a rough time against a top defensive team tonight, and unfortunately, he’s headed for another difficult matchup with Dallas on Wednesday.

Aaron Holiday was held to just two points on 1-of-5 shooting Sunday, to go with one rebound, two assists and one turnover in 19 minutes off the bench.

Jan 18   12:46 AM

Holiday was scoreless through the first three-quarters of play, missing his first four shot attempts, and he finished 0-of-3 from distance. He had a big 16-point, 12-assist game against the Dubs on Tuesday, but he hasn’t done much since with back-to-back single-digit stinkers. He’s far too inconsistent to roster in most 12-team leagues. His brother, Justin, finished with 15 points, three triples, three rebounds, one assist, three steals and two turnovers across 35 minutes as a starter, and he should continue to have solid value until Jeremy Lamb (knee) and T.J. Warren (foot) get back.

Edmond Sumner went 3-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line on his way to nine points, three rebounds, two assists, one 3-pointer, three steals and two turnovers through 21 minutes as a starter on Sunday.

Jan 18   12:46 AM

Most of Sumner's production came during garbage time in this one, as he didn't get his first bucket until late in the third quarter. He's been starting over the past three games, but hasn't done much with the opportunity, posting meager averages of 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 turnovers per game on 46.2% shooting. You can do better in most leagues.

Doug McDermott hit 9-of-12 shots for 23 points, five triples, one rebound, two assists and three turnovers through 32 minutes as a starter on Sunday.

Jan 18   12:46 AM

McDermott was en fuego to start this game, hitting his first six shots and scoring 18 of his 23 points through the first half of action on 7-of-8 shooting. He cooled off after that, but he likely made a difference if you streamed him. The Pacers don’t play again until Wednesday, and Myles Turner’s hand issue seemed minor, so McBuckets could be headed back to the second unit his next time out.

Buddy Hield hit 5-of-12 shots, 5-of-11 3-pointers, and 3-of-3 free throws for 18 points, three assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block with two turnovers in a loss to the Pelicans on Sunday.

Jan 18   12:30 AM

Hield bounced back from a rough 3-of-11 shooting night to sink five triples on Sunday. Expect his previous game to be an outlier for one of the league's best shooters.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is questionable to play on Monday against the Raptors due to a left groin strain.

Jan 18   12:30 AM

Hardaway sat out of Sunday's game, so maybe there's a chance he's healed up for Monday. In his absence on Sunday, no Mavs guard separated himself from the rest. Wesley Iwundu scored nine points with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal, and Trey Burke scored just five points with four rebounds.

Jaxson Hayes hit 4-of-6 shots, and 3-of-3 free throws for 11 points, and six rebounds with one turnover in a win over the Kings on Sunday.

Jan 18   12:11 AM

Hayes posted a season-high 11 points, and Stan Van Gundy ran him more than usual on Sunday (16 minutes). Hayes probably won’t get enough minutes to make a fantasy impact on a regular basis, though.

Marvin Bagley hit 11-of-19 shots, 2-of-6 3-pointers, and 2-of-2 free throws for 26 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, and one block with two turnovers in a loss to the Pelicans on Sunday.

Jan 18   12:11 AM

Bagley’s made a pair of 3-pointers in back-to-back games, which is definitely surprising for someone who made 34 in his entire first two seasons. Ambitiously, he hoisted his sixth attempt of the game in crunch time in this one but came up short. The Kings fell to the Pelicans, but this was another strong night for a player not ranked in the top-200 in 9-cat leagues.

Brandon Ingram hit 8-of-19 shots, 3-of-7 3-pointers, and 3-of-4 free throws for 22 points, one assist, three rebounds, one steal, and one block with five turnovers in a win over the Kings on Sunday.

Jan 17   11:55 PM

Ingram scored well but didn’t contribute in the ways we’re used to seeing as a rebounder and playmaker. He only finished with three rebounds and a season-low one assist. Still, he’s a top-40 player in 9-cat leagues, and this game is an outlier.

Eric Bledsoe hit 8-of-14 shots, 3-of-4 3-pointers, and 2-of-2 free throws for 21 points, one assist, six rebounds, and one steal with two turnovers in a win over the Kings on Sunday.

Jan 17   11:55 PM

Bledsoe scored a season-high 21 points, though he only dished one assist without Lonzo Ball playing. He mostly served as an off-ball scorer, which is exactly what New Orleans needed, though it meant his fantasy stock remained around the same as usual. Bledsoe ranks No. 153 of all players in 9-cat leagues.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker hit 3-of-8 shots, 1-of-3 3-pointers and 2-of-5 free throws for nine points, five assists, five rebounds, and two steals  with no turnovers in a win over the Kings on Sunday.

Jan 17   11:55 PM

Alexander-Walker got the start and put together a fine game, including two steals in 33 minutes. Nothing to see here fantasy-wise, though.

P.J. Dozier hit 3-of-5 shots, 2-of-3 3-pointers, and 1-of-2 free throws for nine points, three assists, four rebounds, three steals, and a block with no turnovers in a loss to the Jazz.

Jan 17   11:04 PM

Dozier had one of his best nights of the season, featuring a season-high three steals. Without Michael Porter Jr., Dozier's stepped into a larger role and been solid. He isn't more than a fantasy fill-in, but he can chip in a defensive stat or two and is averaging nearly one 3-point make per game.

Mike Conley produced 14 points (6-of-13 FG, 0-of-4 FT), eight assists, two triples, three rebounds, one steal and one turnover across 31 minutes in Sunday's 109-105 win over the Nuggets.

Jan 17   10:46 PM

Conley opened the game with three straight makes, including a deep-3 from logo-territory after he had his toe on the line for his first 3-point attempt, and he did an excellent job of running the offense. Conley struggled in the pick-and-roll with Rudy Gobert last season, as he spent the first 12 years of his career playing with non-athletic bigs in Memphis who preferred to pop, but he’s made the necessary adjustments and has developed a nice two-man game with Rudy. After a disastrous introductory season in Utah, Conley has been a steady top-50 guy this season.

Donovan Mitchell went 7-of-20 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line for 18 points, seven assists, three boards, one steal, two blocks and four turnovers across 38 minutes in Sunday's win over the Nuggets.

Jan 17   10:46 PM

Mitchell threw down an impressive dunk to start the game, but he then went on to brick his next nine attempts and finished the game 0-of-7 from distance. He was getting good looks at the rim and from 3-point territory, but he just couldn't get his shot to drop — although he still came through with some clutch buckets late in the game. We’d expect a more efficient effort on Tuesday vs. the Pelicans.

Bojan Bogdanovic hit 6-of-13 shots for 17 points, five triples, three boards, three assists and four turnovers in 34 minutes on Sunday.

Jan 17   10:46 PM

Bogdanovic got off to a quick start in this one, scoring five points in the first four minutes of play and this was his third straight game hitting double-figures in the scoring department with multiple triples. He was awful to begin the season, but Bojan's been on a heater over the past three, so hopefully, this is a sign that he’s ready to start rolling.

Will Barton hit 1-of-6 shots and 0-of-3 3-pointers for two points, four assists, five rebounds, no steals, and a block with one turnover in a loss to the Jazz.

Jan 17   10:46 PM

Barton’s two-game hot streak, where he scored 49 points on 14-of-29 shooting, came to a close, as he scored just two points in a game Denver desperately needed a third scorer in. Barton was a non-factor all night. The Nuggets haven’t been the same this season, with each wing struggling to find his footing on a consistent basis. It's been a disappointing start for Barton's fantasy managers.
