Players News

Tuarean Prince is starting again on Monday with Darius Garland coming off the bench.

Jan 25   7:49 PM

Collin Sexton, Isaac Okoro, Cedi Osman and Andre Drummond are the other starters and Garland's managers are hoping the Cavs are just easing Garland back into the mix and this is not a permanent change. Garland's minutes restriction will end soon and he should then move back into the first unit.

KZ Okpala will start on Monday vs. the Nets, with Moe Harkless (thigh) unavailable.

Jan 25   7:22 PM

This was the expected move after Okpala started the second half for the injured Harkless on Saturday, but even as a starter, he typically doesn't bring much to the box score. Rounding out the first unit will be Goran Dragic, Duncan Robinson, Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo.

Norman Powell is replacing Stanley Johnson in the Raptors' starting lineup on Monday with Pascal Siakam out.

Jan 25   6:53 PM

Johnson got the starting nod on Sunday, but did very little with the opportunity, scoring just three points with six rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes. Now, with Kyle Lowry back, Powell will stay with the starting group, and Johnson will move back to the bench.

James Ennis (quad/hamstring) is starting on Monday against the Hornets.

Jan 25   6:28 PM

Ennis will start after being listed as questionable but his minutes will be restricted. It's unclear what his limit is, though he's averaging 25.5 minutes over his last four games. Ennis hasn't been a strong fantasy option this year regardless.

Raul Neto is questionable to play on Tuesday against the Rockets due to a groin injury.

Jan 25   6:28 PM

Neto missed Sunday's game with the injury he suffered in practice, and the Wizards gave everyone a try at the backup guard spot. Jerome Robinson started and scored 16 points with five rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes, Isaac Bonga also started and scored seven points with seven rebounds in 33 minutes, and Cassius Winston scored eight points with four rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes. If Neto sits again, Robinson might be a solid DFS option.

Marcus Morris (illness) is not listed on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Hawks.

Jan 25   6:28 PM

The Clippers will need Morris without Patrick Beverley (knee), Paul George (medical protocol) and Kawhi Leonard (medical protocol). Morris has been up and down in the eight games he's played this season, but he'll take on a major role along with Luke Kennard, Nicolas Batum, Lou Williams, Patrick Patterson, and Reggie Jackson.

Clint Capela is questionable to play on Tuesday against the Clippers due to right hand soreness.

Jan 25   5:46 PM

Capela sat out for the Hawks' last game on Sunday and was replaced with the rookie Onyeka Okongwu, who scored just four points with two rebounds in 16 minutes but did record an impressive three blocks. Okongwu would likely get more time if Capela is out again, and is worth playing for his blocks potential in spot situations. John Collins would also play a more significant role in the offense.

Paul George won't play on Tuesday against the Hawks due to health and safety protocol.

Jan 25   5:46 PM

George and Kawhi Leonard will both miss Tuesday's game because of the protocol. It's unclear if either has tested positive, or if they've just been exposed, so it's impossible to know how long they might sit for. They'll either have to wait at least 10 days since their first symptom or test negative twice, 24 hours apart. Without George, Leonard, or Patrick Beverley (right knee soreness), expect extended run for Lou Williams, Luke Kennard and Nicolas Batum.

Patrick Beverley won't play on Tuesday against the Hawks due to right knee soreness.

Jan 25   5:46 PM

Beverley left Sunday's game early with the injury and never returned. It's possible the Clippers are being cautious with their veteran guard, especially with both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the medical protocol. Without Beverley, expect a bigger opportunity for Luke Kennard and Reggie Jackson.

Danilo Gallinari is questionable to play on Tuesday against the Clippers with a right ankle sprain.

Jan 25   5:46 PM

The often-injured forward is back on the injury report for Tuesday, a day after scoring 17 points with three 3-pointers in 19 minutes. If Gallinari is ruled out, expect more opportunities for De'Andre Hunter and Solomon Hill.

Tom Thibodeau said he likes having Immanuel Quickley work with the second unit.

Jan 25   5:22 PM

Quickley went off for 31 points in just 24 minutes off the bench on Sunday as he helped the Knicks overcome a 20-point deficit and get within striking distance, but because he's a rookie, he'll remain in the reserve role under Tom Thibodeau. The fact that IQ finished Sunday's game with a team-high plus/minus rating of plus-2, compared to starter Elfrid Payton's plus/minus of minus-5, is irrelevant to Thibs.

Cam Reddish is probable to play against the Clippers on Tuesday with right Achilles tightness.

Jan 25   5:22 PM

Reddish played 28 minutes on Sunday just after recovering from a knee contusion and is now listed with Achilles tightness on the same leg. It sounds like he'll play through it, though. In his last two games, he's struggling, scoring 20 points on just 4-of-18 shooting, missing nine of the 10 3-point shots he's attempted.

Danuel House (protocols) went through practice on Monday.

Jan 25   2:08 PM

House has been out since Jan. 2nd and coach Stephen Silas said it will take a while to ramp his conditioning up. For that reason, House may not see the floor on Tuesday but he claims that he will be ready to play.

James Ennis (right quad/hamstring) is questionable for Monday vs. the Hornets.

Jan 25   2:08 PM

He missed a lot of time to begin the season so the Magic may opt to rest him this evening for the second game of this back-to-back. Dwayne Bacon would pick up more run if Ennis sits, but he's a very uninspiring fantasy option.

Wendell Carter Jr. (thigh contusion) will not play on Monday vs. Boston.

Jan 25   1:40 PM

This was the expectation with WCJ carrying a doubtful tag prior to this. Thaddeus Young has played at least 23 minutes in three straight and offers some low-end streaming upside for his elite steal rate, while Daniel Gafford has been a little underwhelming but still might be worth a look if you need blocks.

Pascal Siakam (left knee swelling) is questionable for Monday vs. the Pacers.

Jan 25   1:02 PM

This isn't much of an update as this is the second game of a back-to-back. Stanley Johnson got a rare start on Sunday, but didn't do much with it, scoring three points with six rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block. OG Anunoby benefitted the most, erupting for a 30-point effort with eight boards, five steals and four triples.

Avery Bradley (COVID-protocol) could return late this week.

Jan 25   10:52 AM

Bradley has already been ruled out for Monday vs. the Nets but should clear the protocols any day now, along with Jimmy Butler. With Kendrick Nunn playing so well, it's going to be interesting to see how coach Erik Spoelstra handles the rotation but we don't see a reason to pick up Bradley yet.

Zion Williamson acknowledged that he has to be better on the defensive end.

Jan 25   10:19 AM

“I feel like if I set the tone defensively by getting into my man, forcing a couple turnovers or just making my presence felt … maybe I could help get the team going,” Williamson said. “I feel like maybe I’ve just got to do more.” Zion was a monster on defense at Duke but has shown very little at the NBA level, posting a horrific defensive rating of 114.3 this season. We know it's in there, so hopefully he stays true to his word and locks in on that side of the floor because his offense has been outstanding.

Josh Richardson (COVID-19) could be back at some point this week.

Jan 25   10:19 AM

Richardson went through an individual workout over the weekend and is ramping up his conditioning as he prepares to return. Now is the time to consider picking him back up, and his his return will dampen the fantasy value of both Jalen Brunson and Trey Burke. Dorian Finney-Smith, Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber will be next in line to return (in that order) according to coach Rick Carlisle, but he cautioned that things are still fluid.

Bradley Beal hit 13-of-29 shots and three 3-pointers for 31 points, seven rebounds and four assists in his return to action on Sunday.

Jan 25   3:30 AM

Beal hadn't played since Jan. 11 due to the Wizards' postponements due to COVID concerns and picked up right where he left off tonight. He should be ready to go for a big four-game week for the Wizards, assuming there are no complications remaining for their protocols shutdown.
